Financial support for some controversial artwork is on the Greenville County Council agenda for Tuesday night's meeting.
Members will vote on a funding request for the continued display of half a dozen statues by Mexican sculptor Jorge Marin. They're at the Peace Center and in the downtown Falls Park area.
City council has unanimously approved the winged and masked statues of mostly unclothed male figures, but County officials have heard complaints from people saying the works are too risque for family viewing.
The project is sponsored by the Hispanic Association, although Jessica Saravia presented a petition from many Spanish-speaking churchgoers last month who say they were shocked by the statues, and don't want to see accommodations tax dollars to be spent on the project.
The original plan calls for the display to remain in place through October.
