A lack of funding has delayed plans to bring a Texas-based convenience store to Anderson County. A new Buc-ee's location has been announced for the future in the area of Highway 178 off of I-85.

County leaders say the cost of the needed road improvements in that area are around 60 million dollars. Last year, Senator Lindsey Graham said that the county would get 5 million in federal funding towards the project.

Buc-ee's plans to help with funding as well. However, more funding is needed to bridge the gap. County leaders say the road project in the area is still needed with or without Buc-ees.

No timeline has been given for when the funding will be found.
