This Saturday, April 13th, a carwash will be held in Clinton to benefit the family of Michael "Mike Mike" Vinson. Firefighter Vinson, 27, lost his life in the line of duty March 31st, responding to a fire call.

The car wash will be set up in the parking lot at 115 W Main St. in Clinton from 9am to 4pm.  100% of monies raised will go to the Vinson family.  For more information, visit the Laurens Police Department's Facebook Page.

A GoFundMe has also been set up to assist Vinson's parents with a Memorial Headstone.

In July of 2023, state lawmakers expanded Line Of Duty Death benefits to include firefighters. If an eligible law enforcement officer, firefighter, paramedic or coroner dies in the line of duty, their beneficiaries can receive $75,000 from the state. If their death is the result of an unlawful act of another, or they’re killed while responding to an emergency or other similar incident, that amount would be increased to $150,000.
