Greenville County Schools and the Greenville Federal Credit Union have announced a $1.2 million partnership to create a second student-run branch of the credit union at Greer High School.
The branch is set to open in August later this year and is meant to give students the opportunity to gain experience and financial literacy skills.
In a press release, Greenville County Schools Superintendent Dr. W. Burke Royster said “These students will have the opportunity to experience firsthand financial careers, putting knowledge to work in an actual business setting within their school. They are gaining the skills to be competitive in the real world while also learning the importance of financial responsibility.”
This is the second partnership of its kind within Greenville County Schools, with another branch opening back in 2016 at Greenville High School.
