The system uses algorithm technology and cameras to scan for threats. GCS Media Relations Director Tim Waller said " It's not really a metal detector. It's really a security screening system that uses artificial intelligence to scan for threats".

The District's Board Of Directors approved the purchase of the dual lane system at a one time cost of $550,000. The District says, It'll cost $700,000 in recurring expenses to operate the system.

GCS Security Director Travis Forrester said " The Evolv system allows multiple students to pass through at the same time, at normal speeds, which makes it safe and efficient".

We plan to have more on the new system next week as part of our Back To School Series.
