The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has released body cam footage of an incident earlier this year, in which a teenage suspect suffered a gunshot wound.

A Deputy with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle the night of January 16th on Wade Hampton Blvd. in Taylors. The Deputy smelled what he believed to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. Back up arrived and the two deputies had one of the three occupants of the vehicle step out.

A gun was then discovered on the 16 year old's waistband. As they were cuffing the suspect, his gun went off striking him in the leg. The loaded .40 caliber pistol was then taken off the suspect.

Deputies rendered first aid to the suspect until EMS could arrive. The 16 year old has not been identified due to being a minor, but has been charged with trafficking fentanyl and multiple weapons violations.

It was clear from the video that neither deputy fired their weapons. SLED and the 13th circuit solicitors office are still investigating the incident. However, an investigation by the GCSO's Office Of Professional Standards determined that neither deputy violated policy.
