The memory of a fallen deputy from the Upstate continues to live on, as a non-profit group has renamed its annual golf tournament in his honor. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says, the organization Cops For A Cure has decided to change the name of the event to the Austin Aldridge Memorial Golf Tournament.
The non-profit also will also be funding an annual scholarship that will be awarded to the child of a first responder. Last year, the organization donated around $15,000 dollars to 1st responders and groups that support them.
Deputy Austin Aldridge was shot and killed in the line of duty, last summer. The golf tournament now bearing his name will be held July 24th at the Carolina Country Club.
