An apparent weather related weekend blaze has changed upcoming graduation plans for students in McCormick County. Rob Jones has Crews responded to a reported fire at McCormick High School around 11PM, Friday. Officials believe a lightning strike caused the fire.
Crews were on-site overnight and worked for hours to get the fire under control, Saturday afternoon. Due to the damage to the gym building, graduation ceremonies will be moved. District officials say graduation will still take place, Friday at 10AM.
However, they have not yet announced finalized details for the new location. Officials say while the gym was heavily damage, the rest of the school was unaffected.
