Both candidates for the U.S. Senate seat that was once held by Lindsey Graham, were in the Upstate Monday to campaign. Both Darline Graham and Dr. Annie Andrews held events in Greenville.
Graham was appointed to the seat after her brother's death. She later won the Republican Primary over Congressman Ralph Norman. Both candidates spoke about inflation and the increased cost of living. Both said they want to cut federal spending.
Andrews mentioned the failures of the Democratic Party in terms of spending money on government programs. She also criticized Republicans for spending so much on endless wars and corporate handouts. They both also criticized each other. Andrews said that Graham has gotten where she is due to nepotism and being adjacent to power for decades.
She also said the Graham supported Kamala Harris for President in 2024. Saying Graham, led a group called "White Women for Kamala". Graham touted her stances on being pro-life, a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and border security.
Graham said that she also opposes DEI. The election is set for November, if Andrews wins she'll be the 1st Democrat to win a U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina since Fritz Hollings nearly 30 years ago.
