Grammy Award-winning R&B singer and Greenville native Peabo Bryson has died. He was known for his Disney duets "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World." He died Tuesday came shortly after confirmation that he had suffered a stroke.
The death notice from his family expresses comfort in the love and impact he left behind. Bryson was born in Greenville in 1951. He began his career in the '70s with Moses Dillard and the Tex-Town Display before going solo.
He had survived a heart attack and stroke in 2019 making what his doctors called "an amazing recovery." Peabo Bryson was 75 years old.
