The Upstate's largest county will soon be served by a medivac helicopter based in other counties. The company Med-Trans is moving its operations base from Greenville to Greenwood County. Med Trans is Greenville County's only emergency medical helicopter.
A Spokesperson for the company confirmed the move in an email and issued a written statement. The statement said that the company made the decision after "evaluating everchanging market conditions".
Med-Trans did say they will keep their medivac helicopters in Anderson and Spartanburg Counties operating, which will help provide service to Greenville County.
The company says they did not receive additional funding or incentives to move the operations base to Greenwood.
