A Greenville County man denies federal accusations that he attacked police during the Capitol Hill riots posing as a member of Antifa.
Papers filed by prosecutors in the Columbia District Federal Court accuse William Norwood III of a list of charges stemming from the January 6th turmoil, including "violent entry, theft of government property, disorderly conduct and obstruction of Congress."
They've entered into evidence an FBI affidavit containing photos showing the Greer man in the Capitol, along with screenshots of text messages bragging to his family that he planned to "dress like Antifa," and had assaulted four Capitol police officers taking a helmet and protective vest from one of them.
But Norwood denies all of that now saying he actually tried to help the police and had taken riot gear from, his words, "a pile of equipment."
