Employees of the Palmetto State's largest school district will be getting a raise. The Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees has amended the Fiscal Year 2023 General Fund Budget after a $10 million revenue increase in the state budget. This allowed the District to increase pay for teachers and other employees effective July 1st.
The starting teacher annual salary will now be just over $45,000. All teacher will receive a $2,500 raise in addition to the step increase. All other non-teaching employees will receive at least one step increase or at least a 3-percent raise. The District also increased its minimum hourly pay rate to $15 per hour. A media release from Director of Media Relations Tim Waller said the increases will advance the District's goal of improving competitiveness as the national and statewide teacher shortage continues and help address inflation.
