A hold has been put on a favorite event for many children the Upstate's largest School District. Greenville County schools announced Thursday that they are putting a pause on schools hosting book fairs this school year.
The District says the move is due to changes in state law on requirements for children's reading materials. South Carolina lawmakers adopted changes after last school year saw controversy over various books and there placement in school libraries around the state.
The District says it is working to find a new book vendor to partner with that is compliant with the new laws to hold book fairs in the future.
