A Greenville man is being held without bond charged with the attempted kidnapping Wednesday, that terrorized a mother and child on their way to school.
The arrest report says 66-year-old Robert Daniel Mistretta grabbed the little girl on White Horse Road around 7:00 a.m. and tried to pull the screaming child away from her mother. She was walking her kids to the nearby Westcliffe Elementary School.

The woman managed to hold onto her daughter and fought off the attacker. Deputies scouring the neighborhood spotted a man who matched the kidnapper's description a couple of blocks away.
They found the youngster's student ID on him. It had been ripped away during the struggle to save her. A bond hearing was scheduled for Mistretta Wednesday night. It was denied. He was already out on bond from a separate offense.
Mistretta will have another court appearance in thirty days. He's charged with petty larceny in addition to kidnapping. That's for the student ID torn from its lanyard.
