Commissioners, staff, and supporters of Greenville special purpose districts held a press conference today at Greenville County Square about the County Council's attempts to consolidate sewer services.
The speakers at the press conference pointed out that they were not allowed to speak at today's County Council meeting. They further said that when they are allowed to speak at a later meeting, only 30 minutes will be given to them in total, with three minutes per speaker, to make a decision that affects thousands of people and millions of dollars.

Alan Kay, Chairman of the Board of the Parker Sewer District, said that the county council can only dissolve a special purpose district or SPD if they can prove the SPD has not been doing it's job.
Michael Stansell, Director of Gantt Waste Water Collections, said this is because the County Council did not create the SPDs; the state legislature did.
Multiple SPD trucks, including fire engines, showed up in support. Pictures from the press conference are on our website
