Planned to seat just over 8,000 fans and be fully owned by Greenville County, USL League One side Greenville Triumph has announced, in partnership with the City of Mauldin, a new stadium to be built at BridgeWay Station.

Since the Triumph’s inaugural season, all home games have been played at Legacy Early College; a few short minutes from Downtown Greenville. The new venue will cost roughly 38.6 million dollars, and will bring far more to the Upstate than the Greenville team finally having a true home field advantage according to Team Owner and Chairman Joe Erwin.

Mauldin Mayor Terry Merritt agrees that the stadium will be, “Transformative not just for Mauldin, but the Upstate as a whole.”

The annual lease of roughly 350,000 dollars would be more than nearly all USL League One teams dish out for their home venues, but is cheaper than constantly revitalizing the K-12 school to outfit the team’s home games, according to Erwin.

More importantly, a distinct home field brings the idea into play that, down the line, the 2021 League One runner-ups and 2020 League One Champions could eventually progress even higher through the ranks of US Soccer and continue further the growth of Greenville, while also being one of the state’s highest-level professional sports teams.

Games could be played in the new stadium as early as 2023, and is planned to host much more than soccer events with Erwin confident the stadium will see 150+ events a year. Joe and Doug Erwin, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Triumph were guests on Friday's episode of the Rob Brown Show on ESPN Upstate. The entire interview is below.
