Greenville, South Carolina’s #yeahTHATgreenville tourism marketing is getting a rebranding meant to match the city’s now firm tourist-destination status.
#yeahTHATgreenville has been the branding for the city’s tourism industry for over a decade now, but that’s all changing after Visit Greenville SC CEO Heath Dillard said it’s served its purpose well.
“The evolution is, in some ways, due to its own success,” Dillard said. “Ten or twelve years ago, no matter which market we were advertising in, it was likely somebody in that community lived within a couple hour drive of a Greenville in their own home state. Today, when people hear Greenville, they largely think of Greenville, South Carolina.”
The city’s new tourism branding is set to shift from the old slogan’s answer to the question of “Which Greenville” to a brand new question, “Why Greenville?”
“We want to make sure that tourism is aligned with the broader goals of the community,” Dillard said. “We’re not necessarily interested in growing tourism simply for the sake of growing tourism. We want to make sure that we’re communicating the values of our community.”
