A Greenwood County school district is signing onto a lawsuit accusing vaping companies of targeting underage users with their advertising.
An attorney representing Greenwood County's District 52 says Juul, one of the most popular products among teen users, delivers a nicotine dose equal to 21 cigarettes.
Lawyer Alex Shepherd told trustees at Tuesday night's school board meeting that several other districts in South Carolina have already filed lawsuits.
They all allege that vaping products are knowingly marketed to young users who're unaware of the long-term heath consequences.
According to some researchers that includes the possibility of brain damage.
