A Greenwood man will spend nearly the next two decades in prison after an attack that left a man blind. 50 year old, Kerrick Kelley recently entered a guilty plea to a charge of aggravated assault.
The charge stems from an incident in March of 2022 that happened at the Greenwood home Kelley shared with the victim. Investigators say Kelley attacked the man with a broom and punched him until he was unconscious.
The victim who was already blind in his left eye, lost vision in his right eye from the attack and was left completely blind.
The victim also suffered broken bones from the attack. Kelley fled the scene originally and was not located until a year later. He has been sentenced to 18 years and officials say Kelley will not be eligible for early release.
