Half a dozen people are dead after separate fatal crashes around the Upstate, this past weekend.
One person is dead following a single vehicle crash in Oconee County. The fatal wreck happened around 2AM Saturday at the intersection of Windsor and Main Streets in Westminster. The coroner's office says the vehicle collided with two stationary signs.
The driver identified as 33 year old, Kayla Daniele Durham was the sole occupant of the vehicle., she was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
A pedestrian and a bicyclist are dead following separate fatal crashes in the Upstate, over the weekend. The 1st of the two fatal collisions happened in Anderson County around 1:30AM Saturday morning on Highway 76 near Pendelton. Investigators say, 41 year old Robert Andre Robinson of Greenville was riding a bicycle when he was hit by an SUV traveling north on 76. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Just hours later a pedestrian was hit and killed on Highway 25 at Highway 252 in Laurens County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a Ford pick up was traveling north on Highway 25 when they ran over the pedestrian who was reportedly lying in the roadway. The driver of the pick up truck was not injured, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released, as of the time of this report.
A second fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Laurens County happened just hours after the first one that had occurred on Highway 25. The Highway Patrol says the 2nd fatal crash in the county happened just before 6:30 Saturday morning on Highway 14 when they were hit.
The Highway Patrol says the pedestrian was crossing Highway 14 when he was hit by a Kia sedan. The driver of the Kia was not injured, the pedestrian identified as, 37 year old, Michael Joshua Ballengee was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol says the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The Highway Patrol says the sixteen-year-old driver who died in the three-vehicle crash that also claimed the life of his passenger in Abbeville County Sunday afternoon was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck shortly after 12:30 on Highway 81 north of Calhoun Falls.
A fifteen-year-old passenger was airlifted to Prisma in Greenville, but also died a short time later. Troopers say their car (2013 Nissan sedan) was southbound on Highway 81 when it crossed the centerline, hit a boat trailer being towed by a Ford pickup, then hit another truck head-on, it's driver was injured.
The teens' identities are not being released because of their ages.
