HS Football Jamboree stopped after multiple fights

Fights at an Upstate high school Friday night halted a preseason football jamboree. The Greenwood County Sheriff's Office says, there multiple fights in the crowd during a high school football jamboree at Greenwood High. Multiple arrests were made and the fights caused the stoppage of the event.

The Sheriff's Office says, there were reports of shots fired during the incident. However, investigators did not find evidence to back up those claims in their initial investigation. The incident remains under investigation by the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office.

An Official from Greenwood School District 50 released a statement Saturday saying, that multiple students from various schools that were playing in the jamboree began fighting and multiple people were injured in the incident wuth some suffering what were described as "major injuries" .

Schools that were at the Greenwood Jamboree included the home standing Eagles and Upstate teams such as Ninety-Six, Emerald, Abbeville and Ware Shoals.

Greenwood Football is scheduled to open their season this Friday at A.C. Flora in Columbia. Their first scheduled home game is set for August 26th hosting Sandy Creek, Georgia.
