Officials say at least one person is dead after Hurricane Idalia made landfall in multiple states. The storm has left over a half a million homes in Florida without power. Winds from the storm reached 125 miles per hour, as it made landfall in Florida.

Those winds weakened to about 60 miles per hour as the storm reached the coast of North Carolina, Thursday morning. Idalia knocked over a tree that fell on and killed a man in South Georgia.

On South Carolina's coast the storm brought surging waters and some flooding. It also caused a car to flip over in Goose Creek, which caused minor injuries.

Early data shows that Idalia caused a high tide of over 9 feet in the Charleston Harbor which is the 5th highest recording reading since 1899.
