Prosecutors say Ariel Robinson beat three year old, Victoria Smith to death in January of last year. New details about the investigation surfaced during court proceedings Thursday morning. Jerry Robinson claims he never physically abused the child.

He says that on January 14th 2021, Ariel beat Victoria with a belt so hard he could hear the lashes from outside. After Jerry went to a pharmacy to get medicine to bring the bruising down, the couple gave the girl a bath in Epsom Salt.

Jerry called 911 hours later and when paramedics arrived at the couple's Simpsonville home, the girl was in cardiac arrest. Jerry Robinson will remain on house arrest until his wife's trial. Ariel Robinson is slated to go to trial May 9th. A Judge is expected to rule Friday on whether body cam footage from first responders will be admissible.
