Fire Department investigators say, the blaze that roared through nearly two dozen apartments of the Roper Mountain Woods complex Monday night, was started by a still-smoldering stick of incense tossed into a trash bag.
The Boiling Springs Fire Chief says a resident thought the incense was out when he threw it into a plastic trash bag, tied it up and placed it in a storage closet on his balcony.
The Chief reported thay by the time the man realized the balcony was on fire, flames had spread through the attic areas of the entire building. Everyone got out safely, but the Red Cross had to help eighteen families left homeless.
