Authorities say students at a Western North Carolina High School had to fight off a suspicious man who tried to follow them inside the school.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says resource officers at Smoky Mountain High School in Sylva notified them of the situation, Monday. The Sheriff's Office says the man identified as Griffin Chandler Sanders was intoxicated and students shut the door on him, as he tried to gain entry.
Sanders then began walking around the school. He was later located on Highway 107 and was taken into custody.
Sanders is charged with drunk and disorderly conduct, trespassing, possession of a weapon non-firearm, drug paraphernalia and multiple other crimes.
