An infant is dead a day after being attacked by a dog in Anderson. At 1 p.m. Thursday, Anderson Police officers were called out to a house on Wilson Street regarding a severe dog attack. Police said there were two victims, a young child and an adult.
Both victims were seen for advanced medical treatment at AnMed ER. Officers said the child received life-threatening injuries from the attack, and was transported by life flight to Prisma in Greenville.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office said the five-month-old died from multiple traumatic injuries Friday. The manner of death has been ruled accidental. Following the attack, authorities said the dog fled the house. Officers began a search of the surrounding area, and successfully secured the animal near Cater’s Lake.
