An inmate from an Upstate prison died over the weekend, at a local hospital.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office responded to Spartanburg Regional Hospital, just after 12:30AM Saturday. Upon arrival, the Coroner's Office pronounced 40 year old, Calvin Stephawn Kennedy Jr., dead.
He was an inmate at Livesay Correctional, a state prison in Spartanburg County. The Coroner's Office says their was no foul play found in the initial autopsy, however more tests are scheduled.
Kennedy was sentenced in 2023 for failure to stop for an officer and other charges. Kennedy was set to be released in November. No further details have been released regarding Kennedy's death, as of this time.
