An inmate who escaped from a North Carolina prison over the weekend is now back in custody. Officials say 42 year old, Roy William Burgess Jr. escaped the Lincoln Correctional Center in Lincolnton, Sunday afternoon.
Burgess was then located in York County, Monday morning and was taken into custody.
The North Carolina Department of Corrections says Burgess was serving a sentence for larceny when he escaped and was originally set to be released in 2027.
He's being held in York County awaiting extradition back to North Carolina. Officials have not released details on how exactly he escaped.
