An investigation is underway after allegations regarding the mistreatment of inmates at a Western North Carolina Jail. Rutherford County Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg says, the accusations of mishandling those in custody are being investigated internally.
The Sheriff says, his office will be working with the North Carolina Bureau Of Investigation to explore any possible violations of policy by personnel at the Rutherford County Jail. Officials say, no further details will be released until the investigation is complete.
