An investigation is ongoing after a body was found in the Western North Carolina mountains. Authorities responded to the area of Pisgah National Forest in Buncombe County near the Yancey County line, around 830 PM Thursday.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says hunters discovered the remains while scouting the woods. An autopsy has been performed and results are pending to help identify the deceased and determine their cause of death.
