The death of a drill sergeant at a South Carolina military base has prompted a criminal investigation. The U.S. Army says Sergeant Allen Burtram died on Post at Fort Jackson, Friday.
Burtram had failed to report for work and was found by soldiers shortly after not reporting. The Army's Criminal Investigations Division says it is looking into Burtram's death.
They said they could not comment when asked whether there was foul play involved in the death. An autopsy is set to be performed. Burtram was with the 2nd Battalion, he died at just 34 years old.
