A suspect who allegedly charged officers with a knife was shot by police in Western North Carolina, over the weekend. The Asheville Police Department responded to the Westmont Commons Apartments, just after 6PM Sunday.
Police say, the suspect whose identity has not been released at this time, threw chairs at police from a third floor balcony. Police say, he then came downstairs armed with a knife. He did not comply with orders to drop the knife and was shot when he ran towards officers still armed.
The suspect was transported to Mission Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, as of Monday morning. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation or NCSBI will investigate the officer-involved shooting. No officers were injured during the incident.
