A group of military veterans bound for Washington, DC departed from an Upstate airport, Monday morning. It marks the 1st honor flight to leave from the downtown Spartanburg Airport in the last four years.
The fifteen member group of Korean War Vets boarded a plane to the to visit the Korean War and World War II memorials in the "Nation's Capital". It's the 1st visit for the group since the Korean War Memorial has been renovated, it now includes engravings for the American soldiers who died in Korea.
The veterans group is expected to return to Spartanburg around 7 PM Monday, the public is invited to come out and welcome them back.
