A congressional hopeful from the Upstate will not be on the Republican Primary Ballot. Mike Lapierre's candidacy for the 3rd District seat has been denied by the SCGOP. The organization says he was denied because he does not live in the 3rd District.
Lapierre claimed in a statement his candidacy was de-certified. The SCGOP says his candidacy was never certified in the 1st place.
Lapierre's campaign says, the State party has political motive to deny his candidacy after he has ran Primary campaigns against multiple Republican incumbents over the years.
The SCGOP did not respond to those claims. They maintain that the party's residency requirements are the same for every candidate across the board and Lapierre did not meet them.
