The Post and Courier reports that a left wing political commentator is suing the South Carolina Democratic Party. The suit filed by Cenk Uygur claims the party blocked him from appearing on the Presidential Primary Ballot because he was not born in the United States.
Uygur was born in Turkey and later became a naturalized citizen. He claims that the 14th amendment repealed the requirement that a candidate be born on U.S. soil. Uygur runs a digital media site called The Young Turks, which is a progressive left leaning outlet.
Uygur planned to challenge President Biden for the Democratic nomination. He held a campaign event at College Of Charleston, back in November. Uygur has been approved to be on the ballot in six states thus far, but has been denied by several states.
The case will be heard in court to see if he is cleared in time to make the ballot in South Carolina
