An Upstate known for his years of service to an Upstate school district is dead after a fatal weekend crash. Dr. Randy Grant, the Vice Chair of Spartanburg County District 4 and former teacher and coach at Woodruff High died after being hit by a vehicle around 10 PM, Friday night.
The Highway Patrol reports that Grant was crossing the street from his home near Woodruff to get his mail after the school's graduation ceremony, when the deadly wreck occurred. Dr. Grant was an alumnus of Woodruff High and was well respected by many around the district and community for his commitment to local education.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
