A major Upstate road project officially now has the go ahead. On Tuesday the Greenville County Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance to receive nearly 50 million dollars in state funding for the Woodruff Road Traffic Project. Councilman Stan Tzouvelekas said " I think it's a need, obviously it is. The planners have worked hard to get this planned out and already underway. So, I think it's a good thing for Greenville County"

A new 4 lane road will be built parallel to Woodruff Road to alleviate traffic congestion. It’s a project that’s been in the works for nearly a decade. The project carries an estimated price tag of $121 million dollars and completion is expected by the end of 2027.
