It's not everyday you hear of somebody using an American flag to assault someone, but that's exactly what happened over the weekend in Western North Carolina.
The Asheville Police Department responded to a grocery store on Tunnel Road just before 2PM, Sunday afternoon. Store staff told officers that the suspect was trying to shoplift.
As he was being escorted out, the suspect grabbed an American flag set and hit an employee in the head before fleeing the scene. The employee suffered minor injuries. T
he suspect 34 year old Caleb Cameron Mcrae was arrested nearby. Mcrae is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia
