A man convicted of killing his estranged wife in the Upstate in 2016 is seeking a new trial. Court records say, former Army Recruiter John Tufton Blauvelt fatally stabbed his wife Cati at an abandoned house in Simpsonville.
Blauvelt fled the area with his girlfriend and spent years on the run from authorities. He was captured by U.S. Marshals in Oregon and was brought back to the Upstate to stand trial.
Blauvelt was convicted last year and has now appealing the conviction and is seeking another trial.
