A man is dead after drowning in the Upstate over the weekend. The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, a Blacksburg man fell into a farm pond Sunday evening while boating with his son.
The coroner said the child explained that he and his father, 34-year-old Leron Lee Williams, attempted to swap seats when Williams, who was not wearing a life preserver, fell out of the boat and didn’t surface.
The child swam to shore seeking help, and authorities responded. Williams was found an hour and a half later six feet under the water and was pronounced dead at the scene.
