An investigation is ongoing after a body was found in an Anderson County pond, over the weekend. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a private pond off of Highway 27 in Belton, around 11AM Saturday. The body was discovered in a pond there while the land owners were doing work on the property.
The deceased has been identified as 42 year old, Shannon Ray Carter of Anderson. The Coroner's Office says it appears that Carter had been in the water for a month or more. An autopsy is scheduled to determine more details of his death.
