A suspect will spend more than a decade behind bars after stabbing and kidnapping his former girlfriend at a Western North Carolina grocery store, last year.
The Buncombe County DA's Office says 63 year old, Matthew Martin Miner pleaded guilty to charged of kidnapping and attempted murder. The charges came after an incident in October of last year at the Publix store in Weaverville.
Court records say, Miner followed his ex-girlfriend through the store and out to the parking lot. He then got a knife from his truck and stabbed the woman multiple times.
The victim fought back and tried to escape but he prevented her from doing so, until a manager from the store intervened. Miner will serve between 12 and 15 years in the North Carolina state prison system.
