An Asheville man who stabbed another with a hypodermic needle is behind bars.
The Asheville Police Department says the incident happened the evening of May 31, 2024 when the victim and his family, walking along Biltmore Avenue, were approached by a man asking for money.
After refusing, Police said the suspect, identified as Julien Bryan McArthur, picked up a hypodermic needle from the ground and stabbed the victim in the back as he was walking away.

McArthur was arrested Monday, June 17, 2024, and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury, solicitation, and resisting a public officer.
He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $51,000 secured bond.
