A man wanted in multiple states is in custody after police say he accidentally overdosed in Spartanburg Wednesday evening. Officer with the Spartanburg Police Dept. responded to the Ruby Tuesday location at Dorman Centre,. Upon arrival they administered narcan and began performing chest compressions, on a man later identified as Roger Dale White of Lawndale, North Carolina.
Police say White's fiancé told them that they found a substance in the parking lot, she later displayed a baggy that contained what is believed to be fentanyl. EMS arrived and loaded Mr. White into an ambulance, he then refused further treatment and did not go to the hospital.
Both the fiancé and the suspect allegedly provided police with false information regarding his identity. The arrest report says, White resisted arrest for providing false ID information, while he was in the back of the ambulance. The resistance prompted an officer to brandish a taser, police were able to subdue White and take him into custody.
Police say, White later informed them that he gave false information because he was "down here on the run". A subsequent check revealed White was wanted on warrants from North Carolina and multiple other states.
