
A man wanted in Western North Carolina is behind bars in the Upstate after a standoff, last night. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says, 53 year old Kenneth Wayne Edwards is charged with aggravated breach of peace after a standoff with deputies and SWAT team members.
The incident started when two bail bondsmen came to a home in Seneca to arrest Edwards on warrants for missing court in North Carolina. Edwards barricaded himself inside the home and reportedly tried to shoot at the bondsmen but his pistol failed to fire.
Edwards was eventually taken into custody without incident , just before 12:30 AM Tuesday morning.
He's being held in the Oconee County Detention Center and a hold has been placed on Edwards by the Swain County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina. "
