A statewide manhunt is underway in Georgia after a police officer was killed there, Tuesday night. The GBI says 23 year old Jimmie Steverson is accused of killing the cop who had arrested him just days earlier. The officer has been identified as Sergeant Chris Fisher of the Warm Springs Police Department.
Fisher was killed in a drive-by shooting there in Warm Springs, which is a small west Georgia town about 40 miles northeast of Columbus. The GBI says, the shooting was a targeted attack and came just days after Fisher had arrested Steverson on multiple charges.
Steverson was released after posting bond the following day. Sergeant Fisher had been in law enforcement 16 years and had worked for multiple agencies in Georgia during his career.
Steverson is believed to be driving a brand new black Chevy Silverado and considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should contact 911.
