The New York Times is reporting that the Justice Department is investigating Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz for possible sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl. The 38 year old staunch conservative is also reportedly under investigation for paying for her to travel with him across state lines, which would violate federal sex trafficking laws due to her age. The investigation was opened by the Justice Department sometime last year during the previous administration. Gaetz denies the allegations and claims the investigation is an extortion attempt by "a former DOJ official seeking $25 million while threatening to smear my name."
