Governor Henry McMaster today visited Anderson School District Five and AnMed Health's vaccination site at the Anderson Civic Center.

Anderson School District Five Superintendent Thomas Wilson and AnMed Health CEO William Kenley were also present for the tours.

McMaster spoke to press following those tours about the importance of vaccination and how it relates to schools getting back to face-to-face instruction.

He noted that part of the difficulty of distributing vaccines is creating a straightforward system and location to be vaccinated. He congratulated the school district and Anmed for creating a vaccination site at the Civic Center and working with "the precision of a sewing machine."

Kenley said he is very proud of the progress Anmed has made, noting that as of this afternoon they have given more than 25,000 vaccines.

Kenley said Anmed is currently distributing approximately 1,200 vaccines per day.

Wilson said getting teachers vaccinated is an important step for public education.  He said that Anderson School District Five has been mostly face-to-face since early September 2020 with only approximately 2,500 students learning virtually.  He hopes they will be fully face-to-face next year.
