The Greenville county Sheriff's Office issued the following media release Wednesday.
(GREENVILLE, SC) – Like many of you we are looking forward to Memorial Weekend where we can spend time with family and friends and honor the sacrifice of so many who gave their lives serving our country and our communities. In our celebrations we are asking people in our community to make wise decisions and exercise good driver safety for everyone in Greenville County.
During the Memorial Day weekend the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will be in full force to ensure drivers are getting to and from their destinations safely by obeying traffic laws and not driving impaired. In addition, our traffic unit will be conducting a Traffic Safety Checkpoint on Saturday, May 29th beginning at 10:00pm, at the intersection of Hwy 124 and Highway 253 in Greenville.
We ask for residents and visitors alike to have a designated driver or utilize a ride sharing service in the event adult beverages are consumed. Be safe, have fun and as always if you observe someone driving impaired call 911 immediately.
